She is survived by her daughter, Cathi (Harrah) Barzilauskas of Nashville, Indiana; her son, Patrick Harrah, and his wife, Danna Leggett Harrah, of Tomball, Texas; three grandsons, Blake Harrah, Alec Harrah, and Robert “Bo” Barzilauskas; her sisters-in-law,Betty Harrah of Muncie, Indiana, and Carolyn Ramsey Duffey of Evansville, Indiana; as well as several nieces and a nephew. Sharlene was a graduate of Lyons High School. After her marriage to Bill, they moved to Bloomfield, where they built a beautiful home on North Drive and raised Cathi and Pat through their high school graduations. She enjoyed reading and could always be found with a book in hand, often asking those around her, “Are you reading anything good?” Sharlene was a longtime member of the Bloomfield Psi Iota Xi chapter. She was a stay- at-home mom who was known for hosting wonderful birthday and slumber parties and for chaperoning church trips. She also worked for a short time in the library at Bloomfield High School.
Due to her husband’s work, they moved often throughout the state, leaving Bloomfield for Bloomington, then Evansville, Indianapolis, and finally returning to Bloomington to spend their retirement close to friends and family.
Sharlene loved golf. She and Bill enjoyed many golf vacations in the company of cherished friends, and counted Palm Springs, California, as their favorite destination.
They made annual trips to Florida with couples from Bloomfield and returned with great stories and lots of laughs, all recorded in a treasured diary of their adventures and life milestones, including a hole-in-one at Bloomington’s Cascade Golf Course.
The family would like to thank Gentry Park Senior Living, IU Bloomington Emergency Department, and Redcrest Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation and a celebration of life will be held at The Funeral Chapel and crematory of Powell and Deckard on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a private burial at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Greene County.
